At AEJ in San Antonio, we came up a little short on teaching
panels. The only one we offered “Classroom to newsroom:
A conversation with young broadcast professionals” was
terrific and well attended, but we want to do a better job
of fulfilling our teaching obligation by offering a few more
panels
at the upcoming convention in San Francisco.
Technology is ever changing. So, too, are the issues facing
those who teach radio and television journalism. Let’s
all put our teaching thinking caps on and come up with some
panel ideas.
With the recent devastation caused by Hurricane
Katrina, maybe we want to put together a panel that focuses
on teaching about disaster coverage, or given the fact that
next year’s conference locale is San Francisco, perhaps
we should put together a teaching panel that explores changes
in FCC regulations and their impact on diversity in programming
and employment.
We’re looking forward to learning what you perceive as
interesting and important teaching issues facing those of us
in the classroom and in the profession. We’re looking
for a few good ideas for teaching panels and panelists. Let
me know if you have one via e-mail (cramerj@stjohns.edu) or
by phone (718-990-7366).
