How do I use Dreamweaver MX 2004 to connect to shell.cas.usf.edu?

Dreamweaver MX 2004 is available from Macromedia at the Macromedia Education Store.

In order to connect to Shell with Dreamweaver MX 2004, you will have to configure a site to connect to the server. The following steps will explain how:

Installing Dreamweaver MX 2004 (skip this step if you already have Dreamweaver MX 2004 installed)
  1. Download Dreamweaver 2004 MX. Once you've downloaded the installer, double-click on the file icon to start the installer. When prompted, quit the installer.
Site Definition
  1. By default, Dreamweaver is installed in the Applications folder. To go to the Applications folder, click once on your desktop to bring the Finder to the foreground, then select Go and Applications from the menu bar at the top of your screen. Dreamweaver is located in the Macromedia Dreamweaver 2004 MX folder.
  2. Add Dreamweaver to your Dock by dragging the Dreamweaver icon to the Dock. Then, click on the icon to start Dreamweaver.
  3. Once you've started Dreamweaver, a default Dreamweaver window will appear. Go to the menu at the top of the window and select Site then Manage Sites. The Manage Sites window will appear.
  4. Select New then Site. The Site Definition for Unnamed Site 1 window will appear. If the tab has not already been selected for you, select Basic.
Editing Files
  1. Under Editing Files enter a name for your site. It can be Shell or whatever you would like. Select Next.
  2. Under Editing Files, Part 2, check No, I do not want to use a server technology, then select Next.
  3. Under Editing Files, Part 3, check Edit local copies on my machine, then upload to server when ready. Then, select the local directory you'd like to use to store files, under Where on your computer do you want to store your files? Dreamweaver will include a directory by default. If you would like to store files in another location, click on the blue folder icon to the right of the directory field, and select another directory. Once you're done, select Next.
Sharing Files
  1. Under How do you connect to your remote server?, select FTP from the pull-down menu.
  2. Under What is the hostname or FTP address of your Web server? enter: shell.cas.usf.edu
  3. Under What folder on the server do you want to store your files in? enter: public_html/
  4. Under What is your FTP login? enter your login name. If your e-mail address is bob@shell.cas.usf.edu, your login name will be bob.
  5. If you would like to log in automatically, enter your password under What is your FTP password? and check Save.
  6. Check Use Secure FTP (SFTP), then select Next.
  7. Under Sharing Files, Part 2, check Yes, enable check in and check out, then check Dreamweaver should check it out.
  8. Enter your name and your e-mail address in the provided fields, then select Next.
Finishing Up
  1. Under Summary, check to see if your settings are correct. Then, select Done.
  2. Under Manage Sites, select Done.
  3. In order to connect to Shell, select the Files menu on the right-hand side of your Dreamweaver window. Right below it there's a pull-down menu with a list of your sites. Select Shell from that list (or whatever you named your profile), then click on the blue Connect to remote host button. It's the first button, right under the pull-down menu. If you did not configure your site for automatic login, you will be asked for your password. Enter your password, select OK and you'll connect to Shell. A list of your files will appear on the right-hand side of your Dreamweaver window.
